
Cécile B. Evans
Cécile B. Evans examines the value of emotions in contemporary societies, and their rebellion as they come into contact with the power structures that directly impact our daily lives. Her videos, which combine live action and digital animation, use narrative to negotiate the possibility of many diverse realities within a common space.
Selected solo exhibitions include Museum Abteiberg, Monchengladbach; Chateau Shatto, Los Angeles; Museo Madre, Naples; Tramway, Glasgow; mumok Vienna; Castello di Rivoli, Turin; Galerie Emanuel Layr, Vienna; Tate Liverpool; Kunsthalle Aarhus; M Museum Leuven and De Hallen Haarlem. Her work has been included amongst others at Haus der Kunst, Munich; Mito Art Tower; Renaissance Society Chicago; the 7th International Moscow Biennale; the 4th Ural Industrial Biennial; Galerie Kamel Mennour, Paris and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Copenhagen. She has also featured in the 9th Berlin Biennale; the 20th Sydney Biennale; and shown at Fundació Joan Miró, Barcelona, and Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
Public collections include The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Rubell Family Collection, Miami; Whitney Museum of American Art, Amsterdam; Castello di Rivoli, Turin; Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Copenhagen and FRAC Auvergne, Clermont-Ferrand.
