Kicking off the production list this month is Joan, a new six-part drama led by X-Men and Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner. This new true-crime drama is set in the ruthless and daring underworld of 1980s London where infamous jewel thief Joan Hannington, played by Turner, rises to notoriety as a criminal mastermind. The new series will premiere on ITVX, as viewers get the chance to relive the 1980s and follow the exploits that crowned the titular character as the 'Godmother' of London's underworld.

Another highly-anticipated ITV drama is filming in London this month. Mr Bates Vs The Post Office is another true-crime drama retelling the story of hundreds of postal workers wrongly accused of fraud in a case which was only resolved in 2019 after a 10-year legal battle. Toby Jones (Empire of Light / Tinker Tailor Solider Spy) stars in the show as Alan Bates, a former postmaster who got caught up in the fraud case, but refused to back down. The four-part series promises a thrilling watch as Bates campaigns for justice in the courtroom during one of Britain's most historic legal scandals.

SAS: Rogue Heroes is back for a second season! Based on the gripping true story, the hit-first season was brought to us by the creators of Peaky Blinders and starred Dominic West and Jack O'Connell. The first season filmed on location in Westminster and Morocco. This time around, the newly formed SAS turn their attentions from North Africa to Europe as the conflict on the continent threatens to boil over in 1943. The show's stellar cast will be returning as production has begun in London this June, with filming due to take place in Croatia as well.

Up next is Surface, which is also back for a second season at Apple TV+. Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays Sophie, a woman recovering from a serious head injury that induced a dangerous flood of memory loss that wiped away any semblance of her former identity. The psychological thriller sees Sophie return to her hometown in London for season 2, as she battles to unearth the secrets of her past life.

The Diplomat has also been renewed at Netflix for another season! The political thriller was a hit with critics and audiences alike, with Kerri Russell leading the show as U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Kate Wyler. Taking place throughout an international diplomatic crisis, the show gripped fans earlier this year with it's fast-paced and high-stakes episodes of political and personal conflict. After the shocking final scene of the show, the fact that a second season is now filming in London is definitely welcome news for viewers!

The film also sees the return of Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Rob Delaney as Peter, and Brianna Hildebrand as the fantastically-named 'Negasonic Teenage Warhead', with Emma Corrin (The Crown / Lady Chatterley's Lover) and Mathew Macfadyen (Succession / Pride & Prejudice) introduced to the Marvel universe too. Filming is underway at Pinewood Studios, with further production set to take place in Vancouver, Canada.

A sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 fantasy-comedy Beetlejuice has also started filming in London.
