Yesterday (15 July) we hosted a celebration evening for the participants of our Film London Equal Access Network NBCUniversal Hair and Makeup Accelerator programme.
The Hair & Makeup Accelerator was a programme designed for working hairstylists and makeup artists who are interested in exploring a career in hair and makeup for Film and TV. The aim of the programme is to support them with transferable skills in transitioning into Film & TV and, to address the sector’s need for more skilled professionals.
The course supported 12 individuals, all of whom had demonstrated experience in hair & makeup outside of Film & TV, but showed a passion for working in the industry. The workshop took place in July and August 2024, with ongoing programme support continuing until March 2025.
On the evening, participants shared their positive experiences of the programme, with Xavier Celaya underlining the "great sense of community" that the programme helped to foster.
Overall, all of the Participants stated they are incredibly grateful both to NBCUniversal for investing in this opportunity and to Film London’s Equal Access Network for the continued support before, during and after the programme. They have built a solid community within the cohort and value the shared experiences they have with one another.
