Due to industrial action, some film and TV productions that had been filming in London, are now on hold.

During this very sensitive industrial relations situation, we hope for a swift and equitable resolution for all parties.

As we recognise this to be a challenging time for London's UK film and TV production community, we have collated resources to support those affected. Click here for more information.

Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody, 2018 / The Ipcress File, 2022) stars in Ruth, a new TV drama for ITV that is filming in London this month. The newly commissioned four part drama spans the life of Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in the UK. Revealing secret details about the protagonist's infamous murder trial, the new drama will trace the motivations behind the crime of passion that led to her execution at the age of 28. The show will explore Ellis's volatile relationship with the eventual victim of her life-defining crime, David Blakely, delving us into the glamour and deceiving charm of high society in 1950s London.

Also filming in London this month is the much-anticipated Paddington in Peru and Sonic the Hedgehog 3. You can read more about these exciting new productions in last month's edition here.

On Screen

Starstruck season 3 is now out on BBC iPlayer! Having filmed previous seasons in Hackney, East London, the BBC Three and HBO Max show returns as Rose Matafeo's Jessie looks to navigate her rocky relationship with Nikesh Patel's Tom Kapoor, a famous actor. Catch-up on new episodes of season 3 to catch a glimpse of East London on screen, and to find out whether Jessie and Tom can put their past relationship behind them once and for all.

We're also very excited to see Scrapper in cinemas this month! Charlotte Regan's feature film debut shines with a playful narrative and a fragile father-daughter relationship at its core. Regan stitches hilariously joyful moments around a melancholic exploration of childhood grief. The film will definitely have you laughing and tearing up all at once, as twelve year-old Georgie (Lola Campbell) struggles to accept the sudden arrival of one parent, all the while grieving for the loss of another. Scrapper is set in and was filmed in East London, where Regan creates a vibrant world for Georgie to explore, finding solace with neighbours and shopkeepers alike. Molly Manning Walker, Film London Lodestar 2021 and director of this year's Cannes prize-winning film, How to Have Sex, worked with Regan on Scrapper as the film's Director of Photography so make sure to see this one on the big screen in cinemas this September!

An iconic London series is back this month, as the final season of Top Boy hits Netflix. Top Boy skyrocketed in popularity when it first aired on our TV sets back in 2011 on Channel 4. The show was then revived by Netflix in 2017, throwing us back onto the gritty battlefields between warring drug factions in Hackney. The new season will be the third on Netflix and fifth overall since its inception on Channel 4. Previous and new episodes were filmed in areas such as Dalston, London Fields, Haggerston, the De Beauvoir estate in Hackney and parts of Newham. The Heygate estate in Southwark also previously doubled for the fictional Summerhouse estate before production moved to the Samuda estate in Isle of Dogs. Barry Keoghan joins Ashley Walters as Dushane and Kane Robinson as Sully in what looks to be an explosive final series of betrayal, murder and unflinching action. Catch new episodes of Top Boy on Netflix from September 7 to witness an era-defining, London-based show come to a dramatic conclusion.

Finally, Expend4bles, the fourth film in the franchise drops into theatres from September 2022. The new blockbuster filmed scenes in London during a global production shoot. Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Sylvester Stallone return to the Expendables crew with new recruits Megan Fox and rapper 50 Cent entering the fray.
