Resources, guidance and training to support London’s production community during ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA industrial action
SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and the WGA (Writers Guild of America) have both announced strike action, which came into effect from 14th July and 2nd of May respectively. These are US unions representing screen actors and writers, and the strikes are currently ongoing.
Film London recognises that this is a very sensitive industrial relations situation and we hope for a swift and equitable resolution for all parties.
Equally, we acknowledge this will be a challenging time for many in our sector in the capital, due to the suspension of productions impacted by the strikes. To support our production community during this challenging period, we have compiled a list of UK organisations providing resources, support and training.
Guidance and Support:
The Film and TV Charity is providing a variety of services and resources to support cast and crew’s mental health during these challenging times, including their 24 hour Support Line: 0800 054 0000.
Equity’s guidance on SAG-AFTRA Industrial Action
Writer’s Guild’s guidance on WGA Industrial Action
PACT’s guidance on SAG-AFTRA and WGA Industrial Action
Training and Webinars:
Film Base is holding a series of webinars on the Strikes and the Impact on the UK screen industries.
Please note, the above resources are included to signpost cast and crew members to relevant organisations and support available. They do not reflect the Film London's position on the strikes.
