Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest bring a compelling chemistry to Netflix’s My Oxford Year, based on Julia Whelan’s bestselling romantic novel. Following American scholar Anna, as she balances love, ambition and British academia; the film strikes both emotional depth and picturesque settings. While most of the films unfolds among the antique Oxford, the film takes a brief detour to the capital. It’s hard to miss the scenic riverside moment filmed on Hammersmith Bridge, offering a postcard view of West London as Anna soaks in the city during a regatta day trip. My Oxford Year, is streaming globally on Netflix now.

Set against the dim-lit charm of London’s Prince Charles Cinema, The Regulars follows a ragtag crew of ushers as they drift through their shift; avoiding entitled customers, bickering over movie trivia and occasionally watching the films they’re meant to be working during. Nestled on the edge of Chinatown, the cinema’s grey façade, faded posters, and signature readograph make it an instantly recognisable London landmark. Inside, time moves at its own pace. Drawing from first-hand stories of its real-life staff, former usher-turned-manager Fil Freitas crafts a comedy-drama that captures both the chaos and camaraderie of life behind the counter. The Regulars is now showing at the Prince Charles Cinema.

Also, out now is Hostage, a high-stakes political thriller starring Suranne Jones as Britain’s Prime Minister. The five-part Netflix limited series explore themes of power, integrity and sacrifice after a crisis turns deadly. In keeping with the show’s political backdrop, scenes were filmed at Downing Street. With gripping performances and a chillingly plausible plot, Hostage brings a bold vision to the screen and London plays a central supporting role. All episodes are now streaming on Netflix.

Finally, The Girlfriend is a gripping new psychological thriller landing on Prime Video this September, based on the best-selling novel by Michelle Frances. The six-part drama stars Robin Wright as Laura Cavendish - a woman who seems to have it all: a high-flying career, a devoted husband (Waleed Zuaiter), and her beloved only son, Daniel (Laurie Davidson). But Laura’s picture-perfect life begins to unravel when Daniel introduces Cherry (Olivia Cooke), the mysterious new girlfriend who isn’t quite what she seems. As tensions simmer and suspicions grow, Laura becomes convinced Cherry is hiding something far more sinister.

Filming kicked off in the heart of bustling Central London - the perfect backdrop for this twisting tale of obsession, deception, and maternal instinct. The Girlfriend premieres exclusively on Prime Video from 10 September – and it's one to watch!
