Last week, as part of the 65th BFI London Film Festival Industry Programme, Film London's Production Finance Market (PFM) returned online, kicking off with a keynote from award-winning producer Paul Webster, and a special case study from the team behind Censor.

Now in it's 15th year, PFM is an annual two-day financing event for film, connecting filmmakers and financiers from across the globe. From encouraging new business relationships to attaching international sales companies and securing various forms of investments in companies and film projects, the Market is invaluable for producers and financiers alike. As with every year, participating projects have already set wheels in motion, with the likes of British actor David Harewood attending the Market with his directional debut, boxing feature film For Whom The Bell Tolls, and UK-based sales firm 101 Films International boarding world sales on BUFF Originals relationship drama Finding Forever.

The Market began with a keynote from award-winning producer Paul Webster. With a career spanning 40 years and over 100 films as a producer and executive including Pride and Prejudice, Atonement and the upcoming Spencer, Paul sat down with Adrian to discuss early beginnings in distribution and acquisition with no previous experience, to transitioning into the world of producing and supporting emerging talent, sharing his observations of the industry and key pointers of advice.

Producer Helen Jones from Silver Salt Films and writer/director Prano Bailey-Bond also joined Adrian Wootton to deliver this year’s case study on Censor. Taking a behind the scenes look at British independent horror film, Helen and Prano discussed the films creative and financial journey, unpicking the genre of horror, and transitioning from shorts to features.
