Film London Alumni included in 2025 BIFA nominations

The British Independent Film Awards have announced their 2025 longlist, and we're very excited to see a number of Film London alumni included.

Pillion is nominated for Best British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Lead Performance, Best Supporting Performance, The Douglas Hickox Award, Best Debut Screenwriter, Best Costume Design, Best Editing and Best Make-up & Hair Design. We supported director Harry Lighton to make Wren Boys in 2017, part of London Calling.

Urchin is nominated for Best British Independent Film, Best Lead Performance, The Douglas Hickox Award, Breakthrough Producer, Best Casting and Best Music Supervision. we supported producers Scott O’Donnel and Archie Pearch to make shorts. Archie made two Film London-supported shorts, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, and A Perfect Turn.

Wasteman is nominated for Best Lead Performance, Best Supporting Performance, The Douglas Hickox Award, Best Debut Screenwriter and Best Music Supervision. Wasteman producer Sophia Gibber produced Short Film Fund 2021 short Precious Hair and Beauty.

Ish is nominated for Breakthrough Producer and Best Sound. We supported producer Dhiraj Mahey early in his career.

Motherboard is nominated for Best Debut Director — Feature Documentary, The Raindance Maverick Award, and Best Feature Documentary. We funded the origins of this documentary, when it began as 160 Characters in 2015.

A Sisphyean Task is nominated for Best British Short Film. We supported George Telfer with 2 early shorts Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea andA Perfect Turn.

Stomach Bug is also nominated for Best British Short Film. We supported Matty Crawford via the Early Development Fund in developing a feature.

100 Nights of Hero is nominated for Best Costume Design, Best Make-up & Hair Design, and Best Production Design. We supported director Julia Jackman to make the BFI NETWORK Short Film The Riley Sisters (2022) & 2025 Film London Lodestar Helen Simmons is a producer on the film.

Warfare is nominated for Best Editing. Fin Coates is a co-writer on Early Development Fund Trees with Jo Smyth.
