The Ivalo River Delta Video
The film consists of a number of tracking shots, presented in chronological order, that document the events of particular nights. These shots begin or end with landmarks on the horizons; for example, transmission masts, or distinctly shaped fells.
To bring the movement of the stars within a more familiar time frame, motorised equatorial mounts tracked the movements of the stars. When the camera pointed down and moved across the snow-covered ice, the angle at which the horizon came into the picture format depends on the compass direction of the movement.
Undetermined recording of the polar lights are also an essential part of the piece.
