A pedigree homing pigeon is bought at auction in Blackpool, amongst 30,000 pigeon fanciers, and then relocated to a small mountain village in Valencia, where the locals paint their racing birds in bright fluorescent colours. Through this process the artist instigates an experiment in integration.

Pigeon English is an exploration of two very different communities - one in the grey North of England and the other in the sunny South of Spain. The film inventively combines super 16mm footage with state of the art animation techniques.

Whilst specifically focused on Anglo/Spanish relations, Pigeon English raises general questions about national identity, genetics and breeding, our relationship to nature and notions of beauty.
