MUCH Video
Commissioned by FLAMIN for Channel 4's Random Acts series, Emma Hart's MUCH hones in on a single gesture that has come to define our relation with digital media: the swipe. Faced with a constant stream of images, repetitive swiping peels open a dark void, an empty space drained of content or meaning. Hart's paralytic encounter with the screen reframes the stress and nausea of contemporary life, defined by too much visual noise.
I must make a decision. I feel under pressure to do so, but I am uncertain and I don’t know. It will be embarrassing if I don’t get it right; but there is too much to choose from, or maybe, it is that there is nothing to choose between. What do you think?
