The film takes as its starting point the discipline of the Modern Pentathlon, an arcane but still surviving Olympic sport comprised of running, swimming, shooting, fencing and horseback riding.

Hung loosely on a narrative framework, Daria Martin investigates Modernity, Romanticism and the struggle for wholeness, folding performance, music, sport and dance into a film which, she says, is striving 'to become a contemporary Gesamtkunstwerk (total artwork)'. An updated Bauhaus experiment informed by 60's New Wave film-making.
