It's Going to Rain Video
During the Second World War between 200,000 and 500,000 Roma were murdered across Central and Eastern Europe. Some were taken to death camps, but many more were buried in mass graves at roadsides, in wheat fields and in forests. Many of their bodies remain in these unmarked graves today. Memorialised, but not forgotten.
In this short film, newcomer and Roma actor Oliver Malik performs Valdemar Kalinin’s stirring poem ‘It’s Going to Rain’. Every year Roma from across Europe gather in Southern Poland for the International Camp of Roma Remembrance. In this 3 day procession traditional wagons travel in convoy between villages and forest clearings, stopping at the sites of Roma mass graves to pray, make offerings and recognise the loss of so many.
