Jean-Luc Godard has asserted that in cinema '... all you need is a girl and a gun'. Assassin explores the seductive spectacle of crime as manifested in cinema and the reality of violence through the depiction of the archetypal character of the assassin. Assassin takes the 1967 French feature film Le Samouraï by Jean-Pierre Melville and a mosaic of fictitious and factual content to address the disturbing collapse of our notions of reality and fiction.
