The London Transport Museum
In the heart of Covent Garden piazza, London Transport Museum provides two unique spaces available for filming, the Museum Galleries, and the Cubic Theatre.
The Museum Galleries, which is set across two floors, includes iconic red buses, trams and early Tube carriages. The Victorian iron and glass building, originally designed as Covent Garden flower market by William Rogers in 1871, also includes a stunning glass ceiling.
The Cubic Theatre
The Cubic Theatre is a purpose-built auditorium featuring 110 distinctive moquette seats, perfect for interviews or high-quality film screenings. A high-spec short throw projector ensures slick presentations, whilst a DCI/DCP projector and Dolby Digital surround sound offers a full cinema experience.
The Museum Depot
The Museum Depot in Acton holds the vast majority of the Museum’s collections which are not on display in the main Museum in Covent Garden.
More than 370,000 items including original works of art, vehicles, signs, models, photographs, engineering drawings and uniforms, form one of the most comprehensive records of urban transport anywhere in the world.
For filming and photography, a number of underground carriages are available that include the Victoria Line (1967-2011) tube carriage with driver’s cabin access, a 1950s-present day Metropolitan line train and a refurbished Met 353 first class carriage from the early 1900s.
The carriages are excellent for internal and external filming along with a number of buses that include original posters and advertisements.
Crews have access to green room facilities, as well as free onsite parking and a dedicated onsite supervisor. Onsite power is available where possible.
