Joseph Wilson is a queer artist working with film, installation and performance. His work focuses on ideas that hold particular significance to him personally, including identity and self-acceptance. He is interested in rediscovering lost queer voices and celebrating the communities on the fringes of society.
After completing his BA in Fine Art at University of Arts London, he discovered the East London Drag scene and directed his first short documentary Drag Is My Ecstasy. This stand-out debut not only gained him his first festival screening at BFI Flare but also started his own career as a drag performer. Since then, Joseph’s work has continued to focus on queerness, performance art, mental health, youth and urban culture.
His work has been featured on NOWNESS, i:D, Vice, Vogue, Dazed and It’s Nice That and he has worked for clients including Chanel, The V&A, Liberty London, Amazon, Google and Selfridges.
