FILM LONDON LODESTARS: Tracey Lopes
WHAT WE SAY
Tracey exceeded all expectations with her debut BFI NETWORK backed short film The Girls' Room. Based on her own experience growing up sharing a bedroom with her two sisters, the film is set in one bedroom and therefore relies on the writing and the writer's ability to portray complex characters. Tracey offers a beautifully intimate portrait of three young women and is able to build a world with a lot of texture. Throughout the process of working with Tracey, she was receptive to notes, but also stuck to her own vision which paid off and resulted in her being signed to Independent Talent when they spotted the film at the BFI NETWORK’s showcase in December 2022. The Girls’ Room is due to have its festival run this year.
