FILM LONDON LODESTARS: Toby Wharton
Writer
WHAT WE SAY
Held was a breakout hit at our BFI NETWORK Short Film Showcase in December 2022, with agents all desperate to meet Toby. It's not difficult to see why. His keenly observed film about a boy navigating the loaded ideas of masculinity and strength— and avoiding the pain of being honest with himself—stays with you long after the credits. Toby is tenacious, thoughtful and unassuming, and these qualities will make him a distinctive artist with whom people enjoy working. We're excited to see what he does next.
