FILM LONDON LODESTARS: Ruth Greenberg
"Ruth's work is always surprising and thought-provoking and her directorial debut, RUN shares her usual boldness of vision. With her feature film The Origin in post and a number of projects in development with exciting collaborators it feels as though Ruth's career is building momentum."
Jessica Loveland (Head of BBC Writers Room)
Ruth Greenberg is a writer-director making feminist genre films. Her directorial debut short, the BIFA-nominated RUN, is a powerful film starring Niamh Algar that puts us into the headspace which women are all too often forced to inhabit. Ruth’s British boxing feature, SUGAR, is in late-stage development with Wild Swim Films and the BFI as her debut directorial feature. Her post-apocalyptic British western, The Competitors, topped the Brit List 2016, and is positioned as her sophomore feature. As a screenwriter, Ruth’s horror, The Origin (directed by Andrew Cumming), is in post-production.
Ruth is in hot demand, currently developing horror features with Netflix, Imaginarium & Vertigo US as well as DCM. She’s been commissioned by Netflix US, the BFI, BBC Films, Film4, Creative Scotland and was awarded the Tribeca Film Institute Filmmakers Fund 2018.
