Competition for places at PFM New Talent is always fierce, but all the more so this year with a staggering 100% increase in applications on previous years. The twenty teams selected for New Talent show immense promise, having been through such a rigorous selection process.

PFM New Talent, whose alumni include the LFF-premiering Grand Theft Hamlet, Last Swim, If The Streets Were On Fire, as well as recent festival favourites Reawakening, Tish and Boiling Point, is constantly at the vanguard of commercial British independent cinema. Genre films and documentaries have been a mainstay of the market. And, against conventional so-called wisdom, we’ve always believed in championing indie comedy features, which are continually among financiers’ most sought-after meetings.

New Talent strand teams undergo an intensive online prep week of masterclasses and coached pitching sessions, as well as in-person pitch practice with industry coaches the day before their market meetings.

We’re tremendously excited about this year’s participating teams and projects. Read more about them below.
