Cartoon Forum, a pitching and co-pro forum for animated TV projects took place from 16 – 19 September. Producers had the opportunity to pitch their project in front of 1000 broadcasters, investors and other potential partners from 40 countries. Since its creation in 1990, 963 series have found financing, representing a total budget of 3,46 billion EUR.
Our animation consultant, Julian Scott, attended Cartoon Forum last week in Toulouse. For the first time since the UK left the EU, UK based studios were able to pitch concepts as part of a special initiative, ‘UK Animation Meets Europe’ driven by Animation UK.
Nexus Studios and the Coolabi Group were the London-based studios taking part, having been sponsored by Disney+ and SKY KIDS, respectively. Snafu Pictures were also pitching there as part of a co-production with Ireland’s Cardel Entertainment.
The UK’s four regional screen agencies were invited to present during Cartoon’s croissant and lunch sessions to the 1000 delegates, reminding everyone that the UK, and especially London, is still open for European co-production and collaboration opportunities and explaining our new AVEC tax credit.
