News Story

In March and April this year, two cohorts completed our Industry Progression Course – a two-day series of webinars designed for those who’ve worked in the industry for 12 to 36 months, delivered through the Creative Development Hub programme.
As part of the course, participants were provided with a toolkit for navigating the industry, contributed by returning organisations. These included The Mark Milsome Foundation, who, after delivering their Production Safety session, encouraged participants to complete the industry-recognised Level 2 Health & Safety course. We were also delighted to welcome the Triple C/DANC team, who joined us to discuss accessibility on set for Deaf, Disabled, and Neurodivergent crew, showcasing an example of an access rider to the cohorts. Valeria Bullo, Inclusion and Wellbeing Consultant & Producer for Film & TV, also shared valuable resources on managing Mental Health as a freelancer.
Career Coach and Founder of The Lowdown Mentoring, Karmjit Kaur, spoke about balancing Integrity with Opportunity, and how to build productive collaborations. Fellow Career Coach Kate Lander encouraged members to position their ‘soft skills’ as ‘professional skills’ during her CV Clinic Masterclass. Meanwhile, Producer and Creative Collaborator Ceri Barnes challenged participants to reflect on their unique selling points.
Script & Continuity Supervisor, Tereza Duskova, who participated in the course shared the following:
”This was an incredible course, exceeding my expectations. I learned about the importance of community and networking, connections and social media. I was able to identify practical steps that can be done to achieve my goals. The course was very well organised in a professional, friendly, supportive environment where I felt heard and understood.”
Congratulations to the participants on completing the course - we look forward to what’s next for each of their careers.
The Skills Team would also like to extend their gratitude to the following professionals, who made this event truly inspiring for the members:
Azariah Jade, Inclusion Pipeline Programme Manager @ Warner Bros. Discovery and Chloe Perkins, Training Manager for 60Forty Films for co-running this amazing experience.
Lastly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the brilliant speakers who joined us on this course for their insight, encouragement, and generosity which made a lasting impact.
