London International Animation Festival
The London International Animation Festival (LIAF) proudly showcases the whole spectrum of animation, showing that animation is for everyone. Founded in 2003, LIAF is the UK’s largest and longest-running animation festival, dedicated to screening the best of the world’s independent films and celebrating the diversity and creativity of this unique art form. Each year LIAF screens hundreds of films, including many UK, European and World Premieres, to thousands of people across London venues, internationally and online, via our 10-day festival, year-round touring programmes and online screenings and events.
Kiln
Kiln's 267-seat cinema, built in 1998, screens over 150 films each year, with more than 70% being British, specialised, or archival titles. Since 2022, its audience numbers have grown by 70%. The cinema offers dementia-friendly screenings, along with seasons co-curated with theatre creatives, festivals, an Irish-language season, and BSL-led lectures and Q&As. Kiln Cinema has some of the most affordable tickets in London and Kiln’s Creative Engagement programme helps remove financial barriers through subsidised ticket schemes and skills workshops. Projects like Arrive Build Create, aimed at refugees and asylum seekers, and the health-focused Move At The Movies further expand access.
Rainbow Film Festival
Since 1991, the Rainbow Film Society has been a vibrant cultural force in East London, celebrating cinema and fostering community engagement. What began as a small initiative has grown into the renowned Rainbow Film Festival. The inaugural Bangladesh Film Festival in 2000, held at Genesis Cinema, was a groundbreaking event in the UK. Today, the festival showcases films from around the world, drawing over 1,200 attendees annually. It serves as a platform for filmmakers, artists, and audiences to connect, promoting diversity and understanding through the transformative power of cinema.
