A single screen film installation commissioned for Documenta XI. A sublime landscape that turns into malignant wilderness. Filmed like a still, an English landscape painting. This transforms the physical into psychological. Intense heat on light waves travelling across the landscape can exist as a metaphor. The sonic being as central to the work, a load roaring sound will fill the space. The shapes become completely engulfed by the violent raging fire.

The stillness of quiet in a line of plantain trees is not stillness at all. To remove all cues from the outside, the voices of the inner state become louder, clearer. To watch days pass, a harsh place. It is the tension of translation, the exchange, the resonance between an extremely beautiful still landscape and the one on fire that gives energy and defines reality.
