The Lexi Cinema are proud to host a special preview of Shayda, the debut film of Australian-Iranian director Noora Niasari. The film was first premiered at Sundance and opened the Melbourne international film festival and won't hit UK cinema screens until the summer. It tells the tale of Shayda (Zar Amir Ebrahimi) who is living with her daughter Mona (Selina Zahednia) in a woman’s refuge in Australia, seeking a divorce from her abusive husband Hossein (Osamah Sami). Hosted by award winning British-Iranian director, producer, and investigative journalist, Leila Lak, whose body of work includes films for Channel 4, Netflix, Al Jazeera, and the BBC.
