Join Hackney Picturehouse for a screening of My Name Is Happy. The film tells the story of a Kurdish teenager, Mutlu Kaya, from a remote community in Turkey. Aged 19, she reached the finals of Turkey’s Got Talent. Days later she was shot by a man trying to abduct her. Mutlu survived but with life-changing injuries. As she attempts to recover, Mutlu struggles to fight for justice against the normalization of violence against women in Turkey and beyond. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with co-directors Nick Read and Ayse Toprak.
