Rhona Eve Clews is a working-class artist and filmmaker from the UK working across photography, film, writing and performance. Whether crawling across a field with a lo-fi lens, attempting to make a film the length of her mother’s garden, or persuading the Yellowstone webcam to make Old Faithful her favourite penpal, she undertakes self-assigned, absurd, light-sensitive quests to plug us back into wider ecologies. She calls it research. Combining autobiography, humour, ecofeminism and embodied enquiry, her practice explores relationships between bodies, images and the more-than-human world. She treats film and emulsion as companion bodies with their own sensitivities. With a background in Psychology and an MFA from Slade School of Fine Art, she has shown at LUX, the Courtauld, Café OTO (London), Process Film Festival (Riga), The Film-Makers’ Cooperative (NYC) and Black Mountain College Museum and Arts Center (USA). Her latest film, Cosmic Goo, was co-produced with Video Power (Netherlands).
