WHAT WE SAY
Karl is a multi-hyphenated creative whose experience in acting shines through in his nuanced approach to writing and directing. This was demonstrated in his BFI NETWORK short film, Independence, as he was able to elicit such an incredible performance from a non-actor. Independence is due to have its festival run this year, however, the short has already been platformed by SKY where there are further talks of distributing the film via its platform, and recently screened at No10 Downing street.
Karl Jackson is a London-based Writer, Director and Actor born to a Jamaican father and Austrian mother. He has a zeal for telling unapologetic stories that showcase the underdog. Karl's directorial debut Relapse, about a father, recently released from prison, trying to rebuild his life, was received with critical acclaim. His second film, Independence, focused on young people in care, was awarded BFI NETWORK funding. The film is the second instalment of his trilogy on at-risk young people, and forms part of a wider TV series currently in development through his production company Mirror Door Productions.
His acting credits include Sundance-nominated Dirty God, among many others. Karl brings this wealth of on-screen experience to bear in his directorial approach.
