David Adeyemi
David Adeyemi is a London/Kent based animator, VFX artist and creative director with a research-based approach to experimental visual storytelling. Since graduating from a BA in Production Arts, they’ve worked as a freelance technician, facilitator and digital artist in theatres, virtual production sets, galleries and universities. David was recently awarded a digital arts residency at A + E Lab where they explored West African ancestry and Afrofuturism through a queer lens.
Dreamlike, playful and bold, David’s work weaves together surreal visuals to create new, imagination-fuelled realities. Committed to a multi-media approach, they employ both traditional analogue and cutting-edge digital tools in their animations. Challenging norms and conventions, their practice draws on a diverse range of inspirations from the history of abstract animation to the symbolic visual language of the Adinkra. David’s work is a tribute to their community and acts as a living document shaped by dialogue, ancestry and creativity.
