This January, a new Christmas film starring Sex Education star Connor Swindells has started filming in the capital, amongst an array of other new film and TV shows. Other productions featuring stars such as Rami Malek, Kerri Russell, Ryan Reynolds, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and more are also filming in London. Missing the festive season? Well, you can start looking forward to the next hit Christmas film already, as the intriguing Jingle Bell Heist has just started production in London. Involving elements of romance, comedy and of course, a heist on a famous department store, the new film stars Olivia Holt, Connor Swindells, Lucy Punch and Peter Serafinowicz. The feature film comes from director Michael Fimognari and bestselling author and screenwriter Abby McDonald. Swindells and Holt play two amateur thieves who cross paths on Christmas Eve as they each attempt to rob an iconic London department store in a classic "will they, won't they fall in love" (or get caught), rom-com.
Also filming in London this month is spy thriller Amateur. The production has resumed in the capital and stars Oscar winner Rami Malek as a CIA cryptographer who heads into the field to track down the terrorists who killed his wife. The film also features Rachel Brosnahan and Laurence Fishburne, creating an exciting ensemble for the upcoming film.

Good Grief starring Schitt's Creek writer and star Dan Levy is now out on Netflix! The new film weaves in themes of friendship, loss and self-discovery, as Levy's Marc Dreyfus deals with the death of his husband in this heartfelt and hard-hitting rom-com. Also starring Himesh Patel, Ruth Negga and Luke Evans, the film shot on location in London and Paris. Watch Levy's directorial debut on Netflix now and catch a romantic glimpse of London on screen!
The highly-anticipated release of The Kitchen is nearly here! Directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya, the new film will release on Netflix on January 19. Kaluuya, an Oscar winner and London-born superstar, steps behind the camera for the first time in his career, co-writing and co-directing the film. The Kitchen stars Kane Robinson (Kano) and Jedaiah Bannerman who'll lead us into the dystopian world of London in 2040. In this nightmarish imagining of London, all social housing has been eradicated, leaving behind The Kitchen, a stalwart community of brave Londoners who refuse to abandon their home. Mr Bates vs The Post Office is a new true-crime drama retelling the story of hundreds of postal workers wrongly accused of fraud in a case which was only resolved in 2019 after a 10-year legal battle. Toby Jones (Empire of Light / Tinker Tailor Solider Spy) stars in the show as Alan Bates, a former postmaster who got caught up in the fraud case, but refused to back down. The four-part series promises a thrilling watch as Bates campaigns for justice in the courtroom during one of Britain's most historic legal scandals. Having filmed partly in London, you can catch the series on ITV this January.
Having filmed extensively throughout London, Criminal Record is now out on AppleTV+! The new detective series stars Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo as two opposing agents who are thrown together on an old murder case. When a mysterious phone call blows the case open, young sergeant June Lenker, played by Jumbo threatens to expose the carefully crafted career and legacy of senior detective Daniel Hagerty (Capaldi). Expertly acted by the pair, Criminal Record is a must-watch for fans of the crime-thriller genre. The first two of eight episodes are now available on AppleTV+.
Up next, Jason Statham is back with action-thriller The Beekeeper, a new film from Suicide Squad director David Ayer. As well as filming throughout UK regions such as Kent, the new film shot scenes on location in the capital. Statham, a legend of the action genre, plays a man out for answers and revenge, as he embarks on a high stakes quest involving a mysterious organisation known as ''The Beekeepers''. A second season of Jed Mercurio's Trigger Point is coming to ITV this January! The acclaimed series follows London's Metropolitan Police bomb disposal squad, headed up by the ex-military ace Lana Washington, played by Vicky McClure. The first season of the high-octane show filmed throughout the capital in areas such as South Kilburn, the City of London, Bethnal Green Road, areas of Deptford, Hackney, Canary Wharf, to name a few. There's of course, much more of London to be seen on screen in the second season, so look out for the thrilling show this month on ITV1 and ITVX.
Finally, Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott star in the critically acclaimed and much anticipated All of Us Strangers. Andrew Haigh's new film intertwines themes of love and male loneliness within a powerful metaphysical exploration of grief and trauma. Haigh's direction pulls it all together in this unforgettable and impressive cinematic feat that'll leave you questioning everything. The film is set in contemporary London and filmed in areas such as South Croydon, Vauxhall and even features a stunning mind-bending sequence on the London Underground. All of Us Strangers is in cinemas from January 26.
