Kicking off this month's production report is the huge news about Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps which is now filming in London! The Marvel Cinematic Universe is once again gearing up for a multitude of new instalments, now with a new big bad: Doctor Doom. The infamous comic book villain will be portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. Yes, we know, RDJ was Iron Man, but as we've come to learn, Marvel like to rip up the rulebook every now and then...

A landmark new production in this upcoming phase will be the rebooted Fantastic Four with, arguably, the flawless casting of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn in the iconic roles of group leader, Reed Richards, Invisible Woman, The Human Torch, and The Thing. Filming is taking place just outside the capital at Pinewood Studios where production appears to be setting up for a story set in the 1960s. This will be a fun one to keep up with over the next few months!

Up next, another star-studded ensemble is getting together for a new film in London from acclaimed Call Me By Your Name and Challengers director Luca Guadagnino. After the Hunt starring Ayo Edebiri, Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield and Chloe Sevigny follows a university professor (Roberts) whose dark secrets resurface when one of her pupils raises a series of accusations against an esteemed colleague. It's safe to assume this exciting new project will reach the same thrilling heights as some of Guadagnino's previous hits.

Other notable productions currently filming on location and/or in studio include:

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part Two - Tom Cruise returns for eighth film in the franchise as Ethan Hunt seeks to destroy the apocalyptically dangerous AI software known as 'The Entity'.

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy - Fourth Bridget Jones film with Renée Zellweger. We'll meet Bridget again in her fifties, widowed, with two kids, and once again thrown off course by Hugh Grant's Daniel Cleaver.

The Girlfriend -Film directed by and starring Robin Wright. Based on the novel of the same name, Wright stars as a mother whose life is disrupted by her son's new suspicious girlfriend.

Fuze - Anew heist thriller starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson from director David Mackenzie.

The Agency - Political thriller starring Jeffrey Wright and Michael Fassbender based on the hit French series "Le Bureau des Legendes".

Untitled Jurassic Park Sequel - Fourth film in the rebooted franchise will be directed by Gareth Edwards and follow 2022's Jurassic World: Dominion.

Also filming in London this month is Little Disasters, a new drama for Paramount+. With Diane Kruger and Jo Joyner starring, the new 6-part drama takes a tense, psychological dive into themes of motherhood, broken trust and unstable friendships. Centring around a doctor who is plunged into an ethical crisis when her best friend's child appears in the emergency room, the series adapts Sarah Vaughan's bestselling novel of the same name.

Finally, The Thursday Murder Club has started filming in London. Author and TV presenter Richard Osman's bestselling novel is getting a much-anticipated adaptation by Netflix with a very classy cast list featuring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, David Tennant, Celia Imrie, Naomi Ackie, Jonathan Pryce and Sir Ben Kingsley! The story is set in a peaceful elderly community that is rocked by a surprising murder case, turning the unassuming retired inhabitants into determined detectives. This certainly has the makings of a new British modern classic.
