Last Thursday (15 July), Film Hub London took over Theatreship in Canary Wharf for our latest Exhibitors' Breakfast. These events are an opportunity for Film Hub London members to network over coffee and pastries, and present on a range of subjects to their peers.

After an introduction by Film London's own Head of Audiences & Archives Paul Bowman, Natalie Hill from Theatreship talked attendees through the history of the venue, before showing a fascinating film which charted the construction of the boat in the Netherlands, before it was sailed across the Ocean to London.

Next up James Corr, Training and Professional Development Officer at Independent Cinema Office, previewed the programme at this year's BFI FAN CON. The event takes place from 7 to 9 September at Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle upon Tyne. Following swiftly on, there was a focus on London's Cultural Infrastructure Map with Eleanor Langdale, Urban Researcher and Niharika Basoae, Project and Impact Coordinator, We Made That. Developed by City Hall, London’s first Cultural Infrastructure Map plots the location of cultural infrastructure so you can view it alongside useful contextual data, like transport networks and population growth.

The second half of the Exhibitors' Breakfast focused on engaging with young audiences. BFI FAN Young Audience Champion Kirsten Geekie kicked off proceedings, highlighting the various resources for young audience engagement available on the Film London website.

Kirsten then welcome a succession of Film Hub members to talk through various different ways they have approached connecting with teen, children and family audiences. We welcomed Shay Rafati, Head of Creative Engagement, Rich Mix to discuss Black in Season; Nellie Alston, Audience Development Coordinator to discuss the Into Film Festival; Oliver Wright, Director of Programming, Open City Documentary Festival to discuss Listen With Your Eyes; Nick Bertram and Marcus Shepherd, co-founders, Stow Film Lounge to discuss their outdoor screenings; and last but not least Kieron Chissik, Creative Director of Enchanted Cinema to give an overview of their interactive, music-led screenings.
