The 2023 BIFAs longlist was announced last week, and we were delighted to see a wealth of Film London alumni included in the list.
In the Best Debut Director category, Nida Manzoor (Polite Society), Molly Manning Walker (How to Have Sex), Dionne Edwards (Pretty Red Dress), Raine Allen-Miller (Rye Lane), Moin Hussain (Sky Peals) are all Film London alumni.
There are further alumni featured in the Best Debut Screenwriter category, with Nida Manzoor, Dionne Edwards and Moin Hussain receiving a further nomination.
2023 Film London Lodestar Alice Russell has been dominated for Best Debut Director – Feature Documentary for If The Streets Were on Fire, along with Jane Giles & Ali Catterall for Scala!!! Or, The Wildest Cinema And How It Influenced A Mixed-Up Generation Of Weirdos And Misfits.
Producer of If The Streets Were on Fire Gannesh Rajah, also a 2023 Film London Lodestar, has been nominated for Breakthrough Producer, along with Lorine Plagnol (Dalton’s Dreams), Georgia Goggin (Pretty Red Dress) and Chi Thai (Raging Grace).
If The Streets Were on Fire has been shortlisted for Best Feature in the International longlist, alongside Paul Sng & Jen Corcoran’s Tish.
The final five nominations in each category will be announced Thursday 2 November.
