Last Thursday (18 July) we were delighted to bring our latest Exhibitors' Breakfast to the Kiln Theatre for a morning of networking, pastries and presentations.
We began the morning with an ageism awareness workshop from Nuala O’Sullivan, Director of the Women over 50 Film Festival. Nuala talked us through the fantastic work that the festival is undertaking to challenge perceptions and depictions of women over 50 in the Film & TV industry, and how exhibitors can help via programming.
As the breakfast took place at one of London's certified Dementia Friendly venues, it would have been remiss of us not to ask them to talk about what the Kiln Theatre does so well in that field. Emmett Cruddas, Cinema Technician and Programme Administrator of Kiln Cinema took attendees through a whistle-stop tour of Dementia-friendly screenings and accessibility at Kiln.
The final presentation of the morning was hosted by Clara Giraud, Projects and Policy Officer, Creative Health & Wellbeing at GLA, who introduced the Dementia Friendly Venue Charter, and explained how venues can access training and accreditation.
Thank you to all attendees on the morning, and we look forward to seeing you at the next one!
