The 2024 edition of Distributor Slate Days took place over two days last week at Picturehouse Central. Distributor Slate Days is a major industry event for distributors and exhibitors. It takes place annually, building stronger links between distributors and exhibitors and showcasing a range of exciting upcoming theatrical releases.
The morning began with opening remarks from Film London's Chief Executive Adrian Wootton OBE, who stressed that “We’ve got a great track record of presenting exciting new titles to help get them in front of audiences”.
Adrian continued "We believe at Film London that it is vital to support and celebrate cinema exhibition. We are proud to celebrate ten years of Slate Days and to also mark Film London’s twentieth anniversary year”.
Slate Days 2024 then kicked into full swing with a packed lineup of distributor slates. The audience were treated to never-seen-before trailers and clips of some of cinema's most exciting upcoming releases.
Film London sponsor Comscore then presented on global box office trends over the last year. Comscore's Lucy Jones presented on patterns of box office performance related to cinema size as well as the positive news that British and Irish films more than doubled in the top box office positions in the UK over the last year. There were also positive improvements in survey results relating to audience awareness of upcoming film releases compared to survey results from 2021.
With a busy afternoon of presentations and networking drinks, day 1 of Distributor Slate Days 2024 came to a close with delegates looking forward to a day 2 of 1:1 meetings between exhibitors, distributors and event partners.
A big thank you to our event partner Film Distributor's Association, event sponsors Comscore, FilmBank Media and Usheru, and media partner Screen International. It was also great to welcome back the New Black Film Collective to provide this year's BlackTrack in our digital brochure. BlackTrack is a commentary by TNBFC Founder & CEO, Priscilla Igwe, highlighting upcoming releases by and featuring Black talent and themes.
