On 20 April we took over NFT3 at the BFI for the latest Film London x BFI NETWORK Shorts Showcase, where we screened the best new London short films produced with BFI NETWORK funding in the past few months.
Made by a new cohort of some of London's best and brightest up and coming filmmakers, the short films showcased the length and breadth of the medium's genres. The programme ranged from wide-spanning stories about the human condition to highly specific personal stories, taking in tales of alien invasions, secret superheroes and upstart watch dealers along the way.
The short films showcased a mixture of first-time screen faces, to buzzy rising stars, to stalwarts of the UK screen industry such as Doctor Who herself Jo Martin.
From Riz Ahmed to Marley Morrison and Aleem Khan, BFI NETWORK short filmmakers have gone on to do great things. Check out the Film London Shorts channel on Vimeo here for more examples of the exciting work being commissioned by Film London for the BFI NETWORK.
