This past Saturday, we were delighted to be back at the Royal Festival Hall for the Mayor of London Gala, a key part of each year's BFI London Film Festival. This year's gala played host to the UK premiere of Chloe Zhao's Hamnet.

Adapted from Maggie O'Farrell's critically acclaimed novel, Hamnet tells the story of William Shakespeare, Agnes Hathaway and their family. Set both in London and around Stratford Upon Avon, the film is both a fantastic London film and also a fantastic British film.

As well as the stars of the film, we were delighted to be joined on the evening by film royalty in the shape of Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes, both of whom are producers on the film.

The BFI London Film Festival has once again brought the world’s most exciting filmmakers to the capital, and this year’s programme highlights just how deeply London’s creative talent runs. Across first features, daring documentaries, short films, and galas, the line-up has been filled with alumni and collaborators who have worked with Film London at different stages of their careers.
