TAPE Presents: SNAPSHOT is a 12-month-long season that explores the SNAPSHOTS of Black Girlhood found in cinema. Screening as part of the season Drylongso is a 1998 American coming-of-age drama film directed by contemporary artist Cauleen Smith. The film, which was shot on location in Oakland, California on 16-millimeter film, centers on a young black photography student and deals with issues relating to race, gender and identity. The title is derived from the Gullah word for "ordinary."
