The Creative Skills Academy: The bridge between aspiration and opportunity in the screen industries

The Creative Skills Academy (CSA), one of the Mayor of London’s Skills Academies, is a partnership venture between Film London, the Capital City College Group, Middlesex University, and London Higher. The Creative Skills Academy 's lens primarily focuses on the vibrant screen industries in the capital, encompassing film, TV, visual effects, animation, and games.

Perhaps you are:

  • Taking the first steps towards a career in the screen sector and keen to find out what skills and qualifications you will need
  • About to complete a college or university programme
  • Seeking to return to work after a break
  • Wondering how your skills, qualifications and work experience you have gained in other areas (e.g. accounting, construction, fashion, design, hair & make-up) might be transferred to the screen industries

Whatever your situation, let the Creative Skills Academy be your ‘guiding star’. We offer: valuable insights about the different areas, roles and challenges within the industry; bespoke advice and guidance; training to prepare you to work in the sector or advance your career.

The Creative Skills Academy is also working hard to ensure that people who have traditionally been underrepresented in the screen sector are equipped with relevant skills to find employment or set up as freelancers, and to access all the opportunities the industry offers.

Central to Film London's role within the Creative Skills Academy is its Equal Access Network. The Equal Access Network (EAN) works with the other Creative Skills Academy partners to design and run hands-on training modules and courses which are curated with insights from seasoned industry professionals and employers. Examples of courses to date include Set-readiness, Production Accounting, Costume & wardrobe, Location Scouting/Management, Physical Crafts. As we continue to work closely with employers and to look ahead at emerging new roles and skills demand, the range is constantly expanding.
