Tobacco Dock
News Story
The Grade 1 listed Tobacco Dock is a chameleon of a filming location, as suited to serving as contemporary office spaces, bar scenes and shopping centre backdrops as it is to Victorian street scenes or futuristic industrial settings. Original features such as centuries-old timber beams and York stone meet modern additions to create a charismatic backdrop.
Tobacco Dock covers over 16,000 sqm with 57 spaces. Its mixture of both indoor and outdoor space, as well as generous use of glass, mean there’s plenty of natural light. Lighting rigging is already in place throughout, making set-ups straightforward.
It also offers a selection of back-of-house spaces for wardrobe, make up, crew and green rooms, as well as ample parking (+500 spaces), loading bays, and catering and cloakroom facilities.
While the main venue has featured in a wide range of projects from adverts to feature films, TV shows to music videos, the stylish rooftop bar, Skylight, has been used by many production companies who have loved the far-reaching views and modern stylings. Set atop a disused multi-storey car park, access is straightforward, with ramps to deliver your filming equipment to the roof and with power and speedy WiFi already in place.
Tobacco Dock is easily accessible, located just outside the Congestion Charge and Low Emissions zones and within short walking distance of both Wapping and Shadwell stations. For more information on filming opportunities visit the Tobacco Dock website
