As part of a BFI NETWORK Film Hub London series pairing up-and-coming talent with their biggest professional inspirations, we're thrilled to continue Under the Influence with this amazing duo — writer, actor, director & producer Dan Levy & writer-director Marley Morrison.
Most will know Dan through his role as the Rose family's prodigal son David in Schitt's Creek, a series he also created, produced and wrote. The show gained incredible traction over its six seasons, taking home major accolades in 2020 with a record number of Emmy awards for a comedy series in its final season, and a sweep across acting, writing and directing categories. Across series like Schitt's Creek and films like Happiest Season, it's Dan's uniquely captivating mix of humour & heart that earned the affections of writer-director Marley Morrison. Marley has just premiered her debut feature Sweetheart (commissioned by Film London) at Glasgow International Film Festival to high praise, about a socially awkward lesbian teenager who falls in love for the first time whilst holidaying at a British holiday park.
Join us on 23rd March, when Marley will helm this chat around shaping complex queer characters, the careful balance of wit & warmth, advice on writing and collaboration.
