Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones hit the red carpet at the 2019 BFI London Film Festival yesterday to introduce their film, The Aeronauts, which screened at The Mayor of London's Gala, supported by Film London.
Directed by Film London Alumnus, Tom Harper, The Aeronauts sees Amelia Wren (Jones) and James Glaisher (Redmayne) embark on mankind's highest-ever balloon voyage in the interest of studying the weather, and seeks to understand people who push themselves beyond the limits to make new discoveries and redefine the boundaries of what is possible.
Director Tom Harper and producer Tod Lieberman joined Film London CEO Adrian Wootton earlier in the day to deliver a special masterclass at Film London's Production Finance Market. As well as speaking about securing funding for the project, the pair also discussed how they created the film's death defying stunts.
Speaking at the screening, Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said that he was proud to champion our city's amazing film and TV industry and one of the reasons he was so pleased to have The Aeronauts for the gala was because as well as being set in London, it was also directed by a Londoner.
