Behind the scenes at Cannes 2019

As our time at this year's Cannes Film Festival comes to an end, we look back at our work on the Croisette celebrating everything London can offer the global film industry.
In between a packed schedule of business meetings with colleagues from across the international industry, Film London was involved with a host of events.
We were thrilled to see that Moin Hussain’s BFI NETWORK London Calling short Naptha was selected for Cannes Critics’ Week this year and were delighted to join the team for the screening on Thursday. We also welcomed our filmmaking alumni at our annual talent mixer event, bringing together people from our various talent development schemes alongside funders, financiers and public bodies with an interest in meeting emerging filmmakers and craftspeople.
Following the launch for applications for our Production Finance Market, we welcomed a new partnership with Breaking Through The Lens - a pitching Lab held annually at Cannes connecting female directors to financiers. Film London joined the event to select one project from those pitched to be ‘fast tracked’ to the PFM, guaranteeing a place in either the main programme or the New Talent Strand.
As well as championing emerging talent and having a business focus, Film London also remains committed to helping productions adopt an environmentally friendly outlook and we were delighted to represent Green Screen at an event hosted by CST with Eco-Prod to discuss environmental sustainability initiatives in the European Film and TV industries.
Our UK partners Greenshoot were also championing Green Screen in Cannes through a sustainability in action panel.
Our time in Cannes came to a close with the UK Reception which we hosted in partnership with Screen. Attended by industry professionals from the UK, Europe and beyond we were proud to speak about all that London and the UK has to offer from generous and reliable tax reliefs to the enormous range of talent, facilities, crews and expertise.
