London productions honoured in Oscar nominations

Nominations for the 91st Oscars were announced today by Tracee Ellis Ross and Kumail Nanjiani in a presentation by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, revealing nominations in 24 categories for the year's best in movies. We're pleased to see so many nominations for productions filmed in and around London, including The Favourite, leading the pack with 12 nominations, as well as Wes Anderson's latest animated film Isle of Dogs and Mary Poppins Returns.

The Favourite, up for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Cinematography and more, was partly shot at Danson House in Bexley, Hatfield House in Herts and Hampton Court Palace. Isle of Dogs, nominated for Best Animated Feature and Original Score was made at 3 Mills Studios in London. Nominated for Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Costume Design and Production Design is Mary Poppins Returns, which was filmed on location in London.

Up for the Best Visual Effects category are Avengers: Infinity War and Ready Player One, both of which were worked on at VFX facilities in London.

The 91st Oscars will air live on Sunday, February 24, 2019.
