FLAMIN Productions, Film London’s successful scheme for artists working with moving image, is now open for applications. The fund offers up to £30,000 of funding, along with carefully-tailored support and mentoring.
FLAMIN Productions aims to seek out ambitious, mid-career, London-based artists whose projects have the potential for national and international exhibition and distribution. Alongside £30,000 of funding, FLAMIN Productions will provide ongoing support in development and production finance as well as mentoring opportunities tailored to the artist. With works accepted at the stage of concept or development, the project will signify a pivotal progression for the artists’ careers.
Adrian Wootton OBE, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said: “FLAMIN strives to identify bold filmmakers whose projects challenge, provoke and resonate. Through funding support and bespoke mentoring, the FLAMIN Productions scheme has helped produce an exceptional slate of work over the years, proving invaluable support for those who are looking to accelerate their film career. With applications now open I strongly encourage London-based artist filmmakers, who want to take a creative leap, to apply.”
To date FLAMIN Productions has supported and commissioned a phenomenal range of works that have gone on to achieve not only great critical success, but also substantial public reach. Recent successes include Charlotte Ginsborg’s docu-fiction 22:22 (2017), Uriel Orlow’s Imbizo Ka Mafavuke [Mafavuke's Tribunal] (2017) and Noor Afshan Mirza and Brad Butler’s The Scar (2017), which was exhibited at Home Manchester and is currently showing at the Delfina Foundation until 01 December 2018. FLAMIN will be hosting a focus session on how to apply for the scheme at the ICA, London, on Thursday 25 October 2pm-4pm. The deadline for applicants is 5pm on Monday 3 December 2018.
