Film London alumni Ellie Gocher wins at Underwire Festival
Date posted: 04.12.2018
Film London are thrilled to announce that London Calling Alumna Ellie Gocher has won the Producing Award at Underwire Festival for her short film V, which she also wrote.
Commissioned by Film London for the 2017 slate of London Calling, in partnership with BFI NETWORK, the film is a confrontational and funny coming-of-age drama that uses vampire mythology to explore themes of femininity, isolation and sexual abuse. The Underwire Festival Producing Award is the latest accolade for Ellie, who also won the New Talent Award at the BFI Future Film Festival for her work on V earlier this year.
Now in its 18th year, Underwire Festival was founded to address gender imbalance in film and change the industry from the inside out - it remains the UK’s only film festival celebrating female filmmaking talent across the crafts.
