Film London presents free archive film screenings with live music
Date posted: 23.05.2017
London’s Screen Archives are presenting a season of free screenings this June, celebrating the successful conclusion of our three-year London: A Bigger Picture project.
A Bigger Picture helped to encourage people living in London’s outer boroughs to become more involved in their local screen heritage, from donating old footage and home videos to their local archive to discovering the history of their local area on film. As part of the project we curated special archive programs that toured around the boroughs with our mobile cinema, the Kinovan, as well as hosting indoor community screenings.
The project resulted in a huge boost of donations of previously unseen archive films, which will now be preserved so that future generations can enjoy looking into London’s past.
We have collected some of these films, along with favourites from the archive, into a special finale programme, which will tour all of the outer boroughs in June 2017. The touring programme will be screening in a range of interesting sites, from cinemas and churches to theatres and historic buildings.
All finale events are free, and will feature live musical accompaniment.
The programme will be coming to the London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Brent, Bromley, Croydon, Enfield, Haringey, Havering, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Merton, Redbridge, Southwark and Sutton.
It is recommended to book your free ticket in advance. Limited tickets will also be available on the door at each event.Book your free ticket
