Dates announced for London Screenings 2017

Date posted: 10.02.2017

We are pleased to announce the dates for this year’s London Screenings  the UK’s only export market dedicated to British film, and the 14th edition of the event.

Taking place from 19-22 June 2017 at London’s BFI Southbank, the exclusive event will give hundreds of top buyers the chance to see a wide range of new British titles and meet UK companies.

Previous titles appearing at London Screenings include The Girl with All the Gifts, Slow West, Swallows & Amazons (all backed by the BFI in production), Tommy’s Honour and Whisky Galore. Alongside completed features, the event will also include a ‘Coming Soon’ strand featuring screenings of unseen and work-in-progress titles, giving delegates an ‘early doors’ glimpse of promising new British titles.

Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and the British Film Commission, said: “London Screenings remains a one-of-a-kind event and the only place for international buyers to get in at the ground floor with a wide range of features from established and emerging filmmakers alike.”

Breaking through

The event’s annual Breakthrough strand also returns, providing a platform for emerging British filmmakers to get their work seen by sales companies and festival curators. Of the four Breakthrough features spotlighted at last year’s London Screenings, Hi-Lo Joe has since been picked up by The Little Film Company, while Us and Them has been acquired by Parkland Pictures and is screening at SXSW this year. Applications for Breakthrough are still open, with emerging UK filmmakers with features seeking sales representation encouraged to apply by 6 March 2017.

Developed and led by Film London, London Screenings 2017 is supported by the BFI, Mayor of London, Film Export UK and the Department for International Trade.
