Film London commissions 21 new short films

Date posted: 05.03.2015

From over 620 applicants, 21 short film projects have been commissioned through Film London's production funds London Calling and London Calling Plus

Created to support and open doors for London's new and emerging filmmakers, both schemes combine production funding with training and mentoring from industry professionals.

Last year's slate included Riz Ahmed's Daytimer, which premiered at Sundance; the BAFTA-nominated Three Brothers and LOCO Award-winning Two Dosas - successes which showcase the strength of the city's talent and the support offered by Film London.

This year's slate

This year, we are delighted to see London talent shaking it up with Chick or Treat from rising internet stars Mandem On The Wall, The Monster starring Richard Glover (A Field In England, Sightseers), the directorial debut of BAFTA-nominated producer Eva Sigurdardottir, and Above, which was penned by award-winning playwright Michael Bhim.

We are proud to bring back London Calling Plus for its second edition, seeing the scheme cement its status as the only short film production fund dedicated to London's black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) talent.
