Two Finance Markets in London this October

Date posted: 21.05.2014

Dedicated to ensuring strong film ideas have exposure to finance, Film London has announced a call for applications to two finance markets to place in London this October.
The eighth Production Finance Market (PFM) will take place 15-16 October and, following a successful pilot in 2013, the Film London Micro Market will run alongside the event on Thursday 16th October.
"As the UK's only finance market, I am proud the PFM has become a well respected fixture on the international film industry calendar,” says Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London and British Film Commission. “The format works and is effective, so it is hugely gratifying to combine that with our expertise in the micro-budget arena to deliver something really valuable for the UK's emerging talent."

Production Finance Market

The only event of its kind in the UK, the PFM has grown in size, scope and reputation since its launch in 2007, becoming a key event in the industry calendar.
In 2013 the PFM was attended by 145 delegates from 17 countries including companies such as:
  • Sony Pictures Classics
  • Endgame Entertainment
  • Ingenious Media
  • Visit Films
  • Lionsgate
  • Focus Features
  • CIT Group

Can You Attend?

Attendance to the PFM is available by application only. The PFM is open to producers with feature film projects of €1 million and above aimed at the international theatrical market. Applications are also open for international financiers seeking new projects.

Micro Market

Modelled on the PFM, the Micro Market aims to meet rising demand for micro and low budgeted feature projects. Supported by Creative Skillset, it will provide filmmaking teams with meetings with financiers looking to source projects budgeted at €1M and under, alongside comprehensive training in negotiating, deal-making, packaging projects and delivering a winning pitch.
The inaugural Micro Market had many leading financiers in attendance, including:
  • Ingenious Media
  • Bob & Co
  • Coffee & Cigarettes
  • Creativity Capital
  • D5 Entertainment Ltd
  • Independent Film Sales
  • Dogwoof
  • Vertigo Films

Can You Attend?

In order to apply to attend the Micro Market, producers must be based in the UK and have a fully-scripted first or second feature ready to be financed, with a production budget of up to €1 million.
